Jeromy Burnitz - Home Run King

The big buzz with the recent congressional hearing has been the so-called sacred records of baseball. People are spending a lot of time talking about the "good old days" when you could trust what the numbers actually meant. So let's go back to the year that McGwire set the homer record, and use old-time rules to figure out who the real homerun king is. Of course, in old-time baseball only white players were allowed to play, and hispanics rarely left the islands...

70 - Mark McGwire Nope, steroid rumors reject this choice
66 - Sammy Sosa Too dark, from the Caribbean and possibly juiced. A triple-crown reject.
56 - Ken Griffey Jr. Would have played in the Negro Leagues
50 - Greg Vaughn Negro Leaguer
49 - Albert Belle Negro Leaguer
46 - Vinny Castilla Still in Mexico
46 - Jose Canseco Steroids
45 - Manny Ramirez Still in the DR
45 - Juan Gonzalez Still in Puerto Rico
44 - Andres Galarraga Still in Venezuela
43 - Rafael Palmeiro Still in Cuba
42 - Alex Rodriguez Parents never left the DR
40 - Mo Vaughn Negro Leaguer
38 - Moises Alou Negro Leaguer
38 - Jeromy Burnitz

We finally have a champ. Way to go Jeromy.
