Golden State Baseball
Not everyone has been happy with the college baseball photos I've been posting. Some have sent e-mail along the lines of "There's three feet of snow outside, you can't be playing baseball." That got me thinking... Outside of a large population, this nice California weather has got to help player development. Let's look at an all-time California team:
C - Gary Carter
1B - Mark McGwire
2B - Jackie Robinson (Moved from Georgia as a small child, sorry Jeff Kent)
SS - Nomar Garciaparra
3B - Robin Ventura (That's the best I could do off the top of my head, any help here?)
OF - Barry Bonds
OF - Joe DiMaggio
OF - Rickey Henderson (Gwynn & Snider looking in from the outside)
DH - Ted Williams
P - Randy Johnson
P - Tom Seaver
P - Don Drysdale
P - Tom Candiotti
RP - Dennis Eckersley
RP - Trevor Hoffman
Alabama (another warm-weather state) looks nice with a core of Aaron/Mays/McCovey/Paige, but it's hard to look past the outfield/dh combo of Williams/Bonds/DiMaggio/Henderson.

Fantastic?
OK, last night in the NBA the Golden State Warriors scored two (2) points in the fourth quarter.
So... we have a league where LA/New York/Chicago shows up in the finals every year, teenagers can walk in and star, and teams hit one bucket in the fourth, and baseball is in trouble?
