Wow, as of this writing, there are 8 teams in the NL with 63 or 64 losses. The Astros currently lead the NL Central, and the remaining teams are in a 7-horse race for the NL Wild Card. My head hurts. The Cubs look to be setting up their rotation so that they can have Prior go on Labor Day against the Cards, in the first game of a huge, huge 5-game series at Wrigley. If the Cubs' big four pitch as well this time around as they did the last time around, they may be able to put some space between themselves and the Cards, assuming any sort of help from the 'pen whatsoever, something the Cubs did not get in St. Louis.
The White Sox have to be kicking themselves for dropping one to the Tigers, even if it was at Comerica. You just can't lose to the Tigers with Buehrle on the mound if you're the Sox. With the Angels up big over KC and the Twins just now scoring two runs on two separate throwing errors on a bases-loading single to up their lead to three over the Rangers, it looks like the AL Central will match the NL Central for tightness going into tomorrow. Of course, Torii Hunter just popped out with runners on the corners to end the Twins' ninth. Meh, I'm sure that MVP award would have just cluttered his den, and who needs that aggravation? Nice story with the appearance of Carlos Pulido in the 4th inning for the Twins, 9 years since his last appearance in the bigs.
