A Night at Pac Bell
So I went to Pac Bell Park last night to see the Giants and the DBacks. I haven't been there too often (I hate ticket hassles, and trains that run less frequently than Chicago's El), so it is a pleasure each time I go (even if Barry doesn't go yard). Three quick comments though...

1 - The Giants won't let you near the field in batting practice within the area defined by the dugouts unless you have some type of fancy expensive seat. More or less in every other park I've been to you can go whereever you want during batting practice. But since the Giants are the only team that didn't steal from the taxpayers to build a stadium, I say more power to them if they want to practice brutal capitalism. If charging more for the "right" to stand close to the players during BP helps the Giants, I'm not going to complain.

2 - Good Lord, at times I felt like I was at Wrigley. C'mon folks, you don't have to call up your friend on the cell phone, stand up, wave to them, and continue to stand until they find you and visit you. In theory you have a small piece of cardboard that has numbers on it that pinpoint your location in the stadium. Tell your friend those numbers and sit down. Some of us are trying to watch baseball.

3 - The local Japanese-American community gave Rich Aurilla an award. As a member of said community, all I can say is "Thank God they didn't name it the Atlee Hammaker Award".
